Abstract Fall Nail Art

Here is an abstract fall manicure that is cute and festive and features all the beautiful colors of fall leaves.

Step 1:

Paint all your nails white, except your ring finger nail, which you will paint brown as an accent nail.

Step 2:

Next, using a black nail striper, freehand a bare tree onto the brown accent nail. The best part about this step is that there is no right or wrong way to do it, making it hard to mess up.

Step 3:

Using a medium sized dotting tool, make almond or raindrop shaped splotches on each white nail using any fall colors you wish. These will represent falling leaves. (The best technique I've found is to make a large dot of paint and spread one part out to a point using your dotting tool.)

Step 4:

For added effect, use a small dotting tool dipped in black polish and make smal polka dots in the bare spaces between your colorful leaves. This will draw out the black of the bare tree on the accent nail and make your manicure more interesting overall.

Don't forget to apply your top coat!

I hope you enjoyed doing this festive manicure and all your other fall festivities.

All Fall

So today is the first day of fall and, oh my goodness, fall is my favorite season. There are so many great things in fall and then it leads to the holiday season and that's always fun. :) Lately I've been getting into sweaters and scarves and boots, even though it's not that cold yet (mid 60s is the coldest it's been in my area) but I'm just too impatient to wait for colder weather. Plus, it's pretty chilly when I leave for school in the morning so that's kinda my excuse. I've also really been wanting to decorate my room for fall, but I need to run to A.C. Moore to get some supplies, and I just haven't had the time. But hopefully soon! Anyways, in celebration of this fantastic season, I've compiled a list of things I enjoy about fall. I mean, there are a bunch of these on Pinterest and the like but they always include "cuddling" and "football" and those aren't really me, so I just made my own. :)

  • Of course, all the warm fall clothes:
    • boots
    • scarves
    • sweaters
    • flannel
  • And the fall colors!
    • maroon
    • mustard
    • army green
    • brown
    • burnt orange
    • plum
  • Apple picking
  • Choosing pumpkins
  • Trick-or-Treating
  • Playing in the leaves
  • Fairs and parades
  • Going to school soccer games
  • Hot chocolate and teas and coffee
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Crisp chilly air
So this has basically been to list my favorite things about fall and to get you excited for fall with me. :)

And just think about it, soon we'll be:

  • getting the tree
  • decorating the tree
  • watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
  • eating Thanksgiving meal
  • shopping late in the night on Black Friday
  • baking Christmas cookies
  • looking at Christmas lights
  • going to the Christmas Eve Service
There are just so many beautiful things that happen this time of year and that's why it's my favorite. :)

Fun and Elegant Dotted and Striped Nail Art Design

This weekend, I experimented with some stripers and dotting tools to create this cute design.

It's a really cute and simple design that can be switched up really easily and personalized to your likings.

Step 1:

Apply your base coat. (I used two coats of Wet n Wild - I Need A Refresh-Mint)

Step 2:

Paint the top half of your nail with a different color. (I used Jordana - White) And don't worry, it doesn't have to be perfect because the next step will fix any unevenness.

Step 3:

Use a nail striper to draw a line along the line where the colors in steps 1 and 2 meet. (I used Brash - Bold Black)

Step 4:

Use a large dotting tool to create dots in the middle of the lines you just drew. (I used Funky Fingers - the sticker fell off so I don't know it's name. But it's black.

Step 5:

Come back in with the color you used for the top half of the nail and use a small dotting tool to make a dot in the middle of the larger dot you just made.

Step 6:

As always, apply your top coat for a glossy and long-lasting manicure.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have fun making it unique. :)

Easy Nail Art Design Inspiration

I realize I haven't made any new tutorials lately, partly because I've been busy with school. I've only had time to do my nails once a week while I listen to an audiobook of what I have to read on the weekends for my English class. Last week, I did my favorite nail art I've ever done. Here's how it turned out:

I decided not to do a tutorial on it considering I did it using a tutorial. If you'd like to see the tutorial, search "MissJenFABULOUS Ikat" on YouTube and you'll find her amazing tutorial on this adorable design. I totally recommend trying it out. I got SO many compliments on it, even from the lady at the passport agency. :)

Anyways... To make up for not making a tutorial in FOREVER, I made a collage of a bunch of nail art that I've done over the past several months. If you'd like a tutorial on any of them, please leave a comment saying which one(s) you'd like to see.

THANK YOU for not forgetting about me and coping with me when I'm busy!
